Filip VERHAEGHE, CEO, (UN)MANNED
Filip Verhaeghe is founder, chairman and CEO of (UN)MANNED since 2014.
Before founding (UN)MANNED, Filip Verhaeghe spent 7 years builing the basis of what is now (UN)MANNED's Sol technology, as CEO of Verhaeghe Aerospace, which was acquired by (UN)MANNED. The core of this technology is the automation of avionics development, and automating the associated airworthiness certification.
Filip became an expert in aerospace certification through about a decade of prior work in the domain, including working for Esterline on its modular open software platform, for Septentrio on airborne GPS and for Airbus on AFDX.
Before aerospace, Filip worked on multi-agent technology and emergent intelligence for mobile robotics. In this period, he developed RIDL, the Robot Intelligence Definition Language.
Before that, Filip worked in the space domain for Airbus on the deep space Rosetta "comet chaser" onboard software design, and on the Mars Express onboard computer software design. Filip also did work for ESA on intelligent software to improve ground control operations of the International Space Station.
In between, Filip also created an expert system for the validation of international banking transactions for Eufiserv, and created an expert system for operations in the energy sector for Nuon.
Born in Flanders, Belgium, Europe in 1971, Filip Verhaeghe graduated from K.U.Leuven with a master's degree in software engineering, specialized in computer languages and operating systems, and later master in artificial intelligence. Filip has published on his work at various conferences. Filip is member of EuroCAE and works in various working groups on upcoming updates to the airworthiness standards.
